27. Publication integrity, structural evidence and recovery

Keep collection, queue and source documents distinct

The publication session stores retained summaries locally for recovery. It does not embed its report into an InDesign file. A saved/restored session is not automatically fresh evidence from every document currently open. The queue selection, accepted document summaries and live active document are separate objects.

Clear queue clears queue selection; it does not discard already captured publication results. Removing a retained row requires confirmation and removes only that summary, not the InDesign document. Clear clears the in-panel session after its confirmation. Pausing collection preserves summaries. A completed session can be resumed; doing so makes subsequent exports drafts again.

Run queued scans temporarily becomes cancellation while running. Request cancellation once and wait: the current scan is cancelled safely, remaining queued work is skipped and the original active document is restored where possible. If restoration fails, the report keeps that failure; restore the intended document manually before continuing. Retry selected retries only selected failed/cancelled work, leaving successful items alone. Missing/closed documents are unavailable; the queue never secretly opens, saves or closes them.

Integrity is more than a completed label

Warning What to resolve
PARTIAL_SCOPE Replace a partial manually added inspection with intended complete-document evidence.
MODULE_COVERAGE_GAPS Ensure all necessary modules were included consistently.
MIXED_ANALYSIS_CONFIGURATION Use comparable settings before comparing scores/count rates.
MIXED_TEAM_STANDARD Align the intended team-standard version/policy or explicitly record the difference.
TARGET_NOT_REACHED / TARGET_EXCEEDED Reconcile the optional expected document count with the real job.
LEGACY_PAGE_COUNTS Rescan an older retained summary that only supplies a minimum page total.
TEXTURE_COUNTS_UNAVAILABLE Rescan incomplete/older evidence; lower-bound totals are not exact densities.

Complete with warnings is allowed so that a report can honestly preserve unresolved evidence. FINAL means the collection was marked complete; it is not a certification that every acceptance gate passed or every publication defect was fixed. Check integrity, queue terminal states and expected Book membership separately.

Publication intelligence

Professional details includes a baseline comparison after at least three comparable documents. It compares median score and findings per thousand lines, and highlights material score/density differences in White Space, Styles or Typography. Partial/incompatible summaries are excluded. An unusual chapter deserves review; a contents page, image-heavy section or deliberately different design can legitimately be an outlier.

Include structural signatures is an explicit session opt-in before the relevant complete scans. It compares opaque signatures of paragraph/character-style catalogs, master catalogs and master usage, plus recurring finding signatures. A new session and fresh eligible evidence are needed when that opt-in was not present. Raw style/master names are discarded from structural evidence, but the publication export still includes document names for drill-down.

Matching signatures are not a proof of visual identity, and a difference is not automatically wrong. Compare at least three eligible evidence documents before treating the modal baseline as meaningful. Internal host-acceptance observations are development evidence, outside the customer workflow. They do not repair incomplete scans.

Use Copy draft report while collecting, or Copy publication report after completing. Source text, geometry, paths and raw style/master names are omitted; native document identities are pseudonymized. Document names and the publication name remain included. Review those labels, warnings and draft/final status before sending the JSON. A single-document diagnostic report has a different privacy contract.
