5. Choose scope and run an inspection
Open a saved working copy, expand Scope & inspection options, and choose the modules to include. White Space covers rivers, texture and copyfit; Styles covers style use and overrides; Typography covers enabled editorial rules. Disabled modules are not inspected and must not be interpreted as clean.
| Scope | What to check before running |
|---|---|
| All Pages | The active document is the intended document; large documents can take longer. |
| Selection | Select text or a suitable text frame first. Empty or unsupported selections may be refused. |
| Current Spread | Confirm the visible spread in InDesign. |
| Page Range | Enter one-based document page positions, for example 1-5, 8, 12, rather than assuming printed section labels are positions. |
The threaded-story option expands intersecting scope to complete linked stories. This can deliberately include text outside the selected pages. Verify Results from after the run. A page range without whole-story expansion must not be represented as an entire-publication audit.
Choose Inspect or Update inspection as presented by the current panel state. The action begins host extraction and the included analyses. While running, it becomes a cancellation action. Wait for completion or the confirmed cancellation state before starting another operation. Cancellation discards partial inspection output; a partial run is not a completed clean report.
