Choose the right quality layer
Understand the four roles and the questions each can answer.
Start with the question, then choose the tool. One document can need all four layers: technical output checks, supported typographic evidence, a deliberate text transformation and accountable human review.
Four roles, four questions
Will the file meet our output conditions?
Check the job’s configured technical requirements and intended coverage.
Where should we inspect typography, styles and composition?
Locate supported evidence, understand context and verify a justified decision.
Do we already know the exact pattern and change?
Run a tested expression with deliberate formatting criteria and scope.
Is the result correct, appropriate and ready to approve?
Own meaning, intentional design, source accuracy and the final proof.
Avellio 2.0 brings White Space, Styles and Typography into one findings workflow. Use White Space for supported composed-layout evidence, Styles for supported style and override evidence, and Typography for enabled editorial rules under the actual language policy. A finding helps you decide where to look and what to verify.
The overlap that matters: overset
Preflight can identify a configured overset output condition. Avellio can help investigate Copyfit and, for eligible targets, offer a constrained typographic alternative or terminal-frame fit. The designer still decides whether the text, geometry and surrounding layout are acceptable. Detection, choosing a correction and approving the result are separate jobs.
Read scope before reading a result
A Preflight result depends on its active profile and coverage options. An Avellio result depends on the completed inspection’s scope, included modules and policy. A saved GREP query does not save the search range: choose it for every run. Human approval also needs an explicit version and set of pages.
After edits, obtain fresh evidence. Changing Next inspection, switching an Avellio area or filtering the findings does not rewrite Results from. See scope and inspection and freshness.
Choose your next step
- I have a concrete problem: compare by task.
- I need a quick first action: Comparison Quick Reference.
- I need a complete procedure: Solutions.
- I need to understand a mark or principle: Typography Rules.
Sources and current boundaries
