Handle overset and frame fit
Understand whether a proposed correction changes paragraph composition or the terminal frame boundary.
- Goal
- Overset reviewed in its threading context, with no unintended geometry change retained.

Prepare a representative pass
Understand whether a proposed correction changes paragraph composition or the terminal frame boundary. Use a saved working copy, identify the intended active document, and check the inspection scope before interpreting a result. A profile is an inspection brief, not a command to repair the document.
Follow the workflow
- Confirm the overset story, frame threading and intended page geometry in InDesign. Save a working copy.
- Inspect and select an eligible overset finding. Read the inspector and available correction strategy rather than assuming all previews behave alike.
- For an offered frame-fit Preview in layout, inspect the temporary bottom-edge expansion of the verified terminal frame. It is a real preview change, not a screenshot.
- For panel-only typographic alternatives, review the captured goal and supported parameter changes. The strategy is different from frame expansion.
- Check neighbouring objects, page boundaries and reflow. Finish the live preview with Apply or Revert before another document action.
- Obtain fresh results and verify overset in InDesign. If no suitable candidate is offered, make a deliberate manual fit or editorial decision.
How to recognize a finished pass
- The strategy is understood before Apply.
- The intended fit is achieved without unacceptable frame or page effects.
- Fresh inspection and native overset review agree.
Where judgement matters
- The solver does not promise arbitrary frame reshaping.
- A live preview can lock competing scans, marks and targets until finished.
Does a finding mean I must change the document?
No. Check intent, scope, current evidence and available actions. Retaining an intentional occurrence can be the correct decision. Record the supported review status when useful; it does not edit the source text.
