Czech Typography Rules
The CZ profile combines Czech quotation, date, number, currency, unit, academic-title, and one-letter-word spacing checks.

At a glance
Quotation marks
Primary „…“ and nested ‚…‘ are the Avellio profile model.
Punctuation spacing
Standard Czech punctuation spacing applies; quoted and abbreviated forms still require context.
Non-breaking spaces
Selected one-letter words v, k, s, z, o, u, i, a should remain with the following word; exact candidates can use Review Queue.
Dates
Dot and ISO date patterns are recognized.
Numbers
Space grouping and decimal comma are expected by the profile.
Currency
Kč or CZK appears as a suffix with protected spacing.
Units
Number–unit pairs use protected spacing; selected academic titles receive targeted checks.
Regional variants
CZ is a concrete profile; Slovak uses a separate conservative profile and does not inherit the Czech one-letter-word action.
CZHouse-style caveat
Avellio’s abbreviation and title dictionaries are targeted QA aids, not a complete Czech grammar checker.
How to use this with Avellio
- Assign accurate InDesign paragraph languages before relying on AUTO.
- Use an explicit profile when one regional convention governs the complete scope.
- Run a new Typography Audit after changing locale.
- Read locale source, specificity, confidence, and context together.
- Correct ambiguous dates, numbers, currencies, and complete quote pairs manually.
